Hun Many: Three-Day Angkor Sankranta Was a Huge Success

PHNOM PENH: The President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), Hun Many, has said that the three-day Angkor Sankranta was a major success, bringing countless smiles to everyone who took part in the festival from across the country.

In a post made through his official Facebook page, the President of UYFC, Hun Many, reflected on the past 10 years of the Angkor Sankranta festival and noted the strong ties of solidarity the union has built through organizing this major event.

He said that the UYFC’s Angkor Sankranta organizing team were able to make many achievements over the past decade thanks to the warm support of Prime Minister Hun Sen, who also gave them the high honor of presiding over the festival’s opening ceremony this year in addition to attending various other events.

Hun Many added that it is thanks to the Royal Government’s successful response to the Covid-19 pandemic that the union was able to successfully organize Angkor Sankranta in 2023, following a four-year hiatus.

He continued to thank all the different stakeholders, including the relevant ministries, institutions, and provincial authorities, for their cooperation and support in making the 10th anniversary celebration of Angkor Sankranta possible. He thanked all professors, teachers, volunteers, and artists who participated in organizing the many installations, booths and other programs for the festival.

He also thanked all sponsors, entrepreneurs, and members of the private sector, especially business owners and the people of Siem Reap, for their cooperation in welcoming all national and international tourists to the province and for contributing to the success of the festival.

Lastly, he thanked the families of the youth volunteers, all authorities, doctors, and technical teams for overseeing the ground operations at Angkor Sankranta.

"All of you brought millions of smiles over these three days," he wrote.

Siem Reap received more than two million visitors during the Khmer New Year, while more than 13 million people in total were recorded traveling to various locations across the country over the three-day holiday.
